Iron Man 2 Teaser Trailer. Plus a little extra

Ok, so I just got done watching the Comic Con teaser trailer for Iron Man 2 and was super excited about it. It starts off a little slow but was entertaining and funny so that works for me with all Tony Stark's sarcasm. Not only did the action parts look just as awesome if not going to be better than the ones from the first one, the characters in this new adaptation look to be very promising. Black Widow, Whiplash, and of course one of my favorite Marvel heroes War Machine! I was saying at the end of the first one War Machine has to make an appearnace and looks like he is going to! I'm hoping they do something awesome and let him fuse to a tank or hellicopter like he is famous for doing in the comics. Here is the trailer below! Enjoy!

Also I know I have been lacking in posts about comics. I am way behind in reading due to work and wedding preperations. However I would strongly suggest reading Blackest Night and the Batman and Robin series. Those two have been my favorites thus far!

Batman Arkham Asylum

For those who don't know Batman Arkham Asylum comes out next week on Tuesday, August 25th. There is a demo available now for xbox 360 on the game marketplace. I'm not sure if there is one for PS3 but I'm sure there probably is. The demo was amazing and I can't wait to sit for hours playing this game! There is a specail suit for Batman exclusive to Wal-Mart, and also a special map pack if you pre-order it from Gamestop. Don't miss out on what looks to be a very sick game!

Green Lantern First Flight Review

I got to watch the Green Lantern First Flight Blu ray on Tuesday evening. I was very pleased with the story and the animation. The Blu ray version was extremely clear and made the film even more enjoyable. Not to mention that the Blu ray version comes with a lot of great special features including a Duck Dodgers episode featuring Daffy Duck wearing the Green Lantern ring and costume.
The story is the origins of how Hal Jordan became to be known as the Green Lantern. It shows Sinestro's rise to becoming the iconic villian Hal Jordon would continually face in future battles. All of Jordan's friends and partners from the Green Lantern Corps are all included in the film as well as the Guardians. The action sequences are very well drawn and left me saying "WOW" a few times. DC Universe is continually putting out great animated movies featuring their comic icons. I will say that after watching this new movie it ranks as my second favorite DCU movie. My first would still be Justice League The New Frontier. I would highly recommend watching this film for Green Lantern fans and for those who don't know much about the Green Lantern as a good introduction!

Tuesday releases and upcoming stuff!

"Green Lantern First Flight" will be released in stores today on DVD and Blu Ray. There are a total of 3 editions to be released. On DVD you can get the standard single disc edition or the two disc special edition. Blu Ray only comes in the two disc edition. Best Buy also has a special edition for DVD and Blu Ray that comes with a figurine of the Green Lantern. I have high expectations for this release as the previous releases by DC Universe have been very good. A movie made to give the back story of the green lantern is definitely needed since friends of mine who love comic movies that don't really read the comics don't know much about this character themselves. After purchasing the Blu Ray copy for myself and watching I will write a recap on my thoughts of the film. Check back soon for that!

This is the trailer shown at this years Comic Con for the next upcoming season nine of Smallville. Personally I have to admit that I am behind on watching episodes though I do have the box sets. I am trying to catch up in time for the start of what looks like a incredible season. The quality is not that great since someone snuck in a camera to film it, but it gets the excitement going for me!

Superman Batman Public Enemies

So evidently I haven't heard about this, but there is going to be a movie coming out on DVD and Blu Ray called "Superman Batman Public Enemies." I have been saying I want a full length movie either live action or animated of both Superman and Batman together. It's finally here and I can't wait. This is to be released in September 2009.

Comic Pick of the Week #5-Blackest Night #1

I only had two comics that I picked up this week. Other than "Blackest Night" #1, I also picked up "Batman Streets of Gotham" #2. I did really enjoy Streets of Gotham as well however I felt that my pick of the week is made for the best issue of the week and this comic was the best of the two. Many things are going to happen in the DC Universe through this series. There are going to be a total of eight issues. I hope each issue will be as good if not better than this one was. Awesome story including the grave of Bruce Wayne and other super heroes. The reader learns more about the black rings and what they are made to do. Should be a pretty awesome event!

Green Lantern actor announced!

Thanks to a post on twitter by someone I follow, I have learned that Ryan Reynolds will be playing the part of the Green Lantern. I really think this could be a good pick especially if they go with the Hal Jordan story. Ryan Reynolds has already opened up to the comic world of film adaptations in this years Wolverine movie as Deadpool. Personally I felt he did a good job at the role of Deadpool, and am very excited to see what he will do in the star role of a character such as the Green Lantern. I have really liked a lot of Reynold's films including the recent release of "The Proposal." I think his sarcasm and witty attitude in some of his films could go well with the movie if done without being obnoxious!

Comic Pick of the Week #4-Batman and Robin #2

The new Batman and Robin continue together in cleaning up Gotham City in this second issue. We are now starting to get more of a in depth look into the characters now of who Dick and Damian are, and who they will be. Damian is still very reckless and young, with a lot to learn. Dick feels like he is a joke to Bruce's name and that no one is taking him seriously as Batman from Gordon to his side kick Robin. Alfred tries to help Dick realize that he is going about things all wrong and hopefully with help him regain confidence. Damian has fled the Bat cave and is probably in grave danger. Looking forward to following releases of this series!

Comic Pick of the Week #3-Thor #602

For this week I have chosen Thor #602. Thor is still banished from Asgard after the death of Thor's grandfather, which was caused by him. Thor is troubled by searching hard to find the Lady Sif with no hope. She is found inside a body of a elderly woman who is about to die in the hospital from cardiac arrest. Thor knows that with Mjolnir heavily damaged he will not have the power to resurrect Lady Sif from the body. He seeks out Dr. Strange to help mend his broken hammer and makes a deal with himself to repair it to it's full strength and to awaken the Lady Sif. This issue was very well written as all Thor issues have been lately thanks to J. Michael Straczynski, as well as incredibly illustrated. The artwork that has been commonly known in Thor releases has been captivating and really draws me in!

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

It is without hesitation to say that "Transformers Revenge of the Fallen" is the movie of the summer! I'm not just talking about another awesome action film loaded with great scenery and effects. I'm talking about a movie with a great plot that picks up perfectly with it's prior release from 2007. Not to mention what guy wouldn't love to be Shia Lebeouf and get to be the gorgeous Megan Fox's love interest? But all that aside this movie was phenomenal! I had to catch myself at times because my mouth was gaped open during most the movie in amazement. This summer has been a little lacking for summer blockbusters for me. "Star Trek" was another incredible movie that is definitely a good competitor with this film, but no other films have been this close to captivating me. From start to finish this movie is loaded with suspense and the whole "edge of your seat" ride. New robots from Decepticons to Autobots are introduced into the cast of the already known characters. With the prices of admission always seeming to increase at theaters lately many people have decided to cut back on which movies they want to really see. Trust me on this one, you really want to see "Transformers Revenge of the Fallen."

This new issue is back to the basics of Batman without all the controversy over Bruce's disappearance, and who will claim the role of the new Batman. Full of excitement page after page! Any Bat fan should love this issue. I sure know I did!

Batman and Robin #1
This month features the very first issue of Batman and Robin with the new identities of Dick Grayson and Damian. This first issue is very well written and drawn and has already captured my attention. At first finding out the new identity of Batman I was excited because I felt that if anyone could take over the role of the Dark Knight it would have to be Dick. I am now even more thrilled having read the new issue, as I feel Dick will make a great Batman. I'm still undecided about how I feel Damian will turn out, but am willing to go along with it for now. The story features some new villians and is very dark with great potential. I also have to say I really do love the new hovering Batmobile. Very futuristic but believable since Batman always had the better technology at any given time. This concludes the very first "Comic Pick of the Week" here on "Know Your Limits Comic Blog."

Batman Battle for the Cowl #3

SPOILERS ALERT!

I decided to do a whole article based on this last issue since it was such a big part of the Batman history. For those who have been reading you already knew that Batman was not going to be returning as Bruce Wayne. At least not yet. All things considered I am very happy with who has become Batman. If we look at the options it just makes sense. Tim Drake would have been too young and inexperienced in my opinion to have taken on such a huge role. Damian just would not have made sense at all since he really is just a little kid. I guess it was kind of obvious he would become Robin since the writers love to have a new young Robin it seems. And Jason Todd is too sadistic and has too many psychological problems to be able to be Batman. The single fact that he kills people, and uses guns would not have fit into the part of Batman. Dick Grayson is left as the logical and just choice. Not only is Dick older and have lots of experience. He also was there from the beginning with Batman and went through a lot of the good and bad times with Bruce. He has learned the most as his time being Robin. He also knows what it's like to not be a sidekick but his own hero in his own city therefore giving him a mile ahead of the other candidates. I really love Dick as Nightwing and if anyone could take over the costume it would have to be Dick to make me satisfied and want to read on. I do ultimately hope Bruce will return to the cowl. However, having Dick be the Dark Knight for awhile could be pretty awesome and I am really excited about it. Damian however will have to grow on me. He seems like a selfish brat in what I've read and seen of him. Especially in the "Batman and Son" storyline. I hope he becomes a warmer character and doesn't follow the road of another Jason Todd. Tim becoming Red Robin could be pretty sweet too. Really looking forward to all the new stuff in the Bat world now that all this R.I.P. and Battle for the Cowl is over.

Thor Casting Announced!

Chris Hemsworth/"Thor"

I was online on rottentomatoes.com checking out some movie reviews when I noticed a title that caught my eye about the casting for the Thor movie. It seems that Chris Hemsworth is going to be playing Thor. Hemsworth was George Kirk in the new Star Trek movie and did a wonderful job. I always pictured Thor as being a very hugley built guy, however his facial appearnce would fit the part well with long blonde hair if you ask me. Also announced is the part of Loki to be played by Tom Hiddleston. I am already very excited about this movie. To read the article for yourself click here.

Wolverine Origins

I went to see the new Wolverine movie on Saturday. Personally to me I found it to be better than the original X-Men trilogy series. I have wanted to see Gambit in all three of the original releases but he was not in them. So, I was very stoked on this release! But I was a bit disappointed when I saw the film and only got to see Gambit for about 10-15 minutes tops! That to me was a let down. Now I know the movie is about Wolverine and not about Gambit, but still I thought he would have a bigger part in the film. I was also hoping to see a lot more of Deadpool. I liked the Deadpool at the beginning of the movie probably more than the Deadpool at the end. For one thing Deadpool doesn't have swords that come out of his hands like they depicted in the movie. He also does not have Scott's ability to use laser vision either. And what was with the mouth being sealed shut? That had nothing to do with Deadpool at all. Deadpool was more like the begininng of the film with whitty sarcasm much like Spider-Man. But overall the stunts were pretty sweet as were a lot of the action scenes. I liked the early pre-Adimantium Wolverine too. I felt this was a great backstory of the character with Sabertooth included. The love interest Wolverine had was a great additive to show Wolverines struggle to become who he became. The trailers were slightly deceiving as stated above with seeing other new characters. To me the trailers made the viewer believe we were going to see a lot more out of other characters in the film as well, which wasn't completely so. All in all the movie was good. Still not up to par with last years Dark Knight, Iron Man, Hulk, or Hellboy for me. But was definitely worth going to see!

Batman Battle for the Cowl #2 of 3

Things are getting more intense as the Battle for the Cowl story continues. Robin is wearing the Bat suit and going against long time rival Jason Todd, who himself is trying to be the Dark Knight as well. Also Dick is giving in to the temptation to become his mentor and take on the mantle of Batman as well it seems. As of now anyone can take over as Batman but who will? Very good story thus far and looking forward to the final issue and hopefully it will sum it up better than R.I.P. did.

Batman Confidential #28

Batman Confidential is really one of only a few comics out that you can still catch Bruce Wayne as Batman going after well known enemies without crossovers and huge story lines which can actually be a good thing. The story lately has been featuring the Riddler actually helping Batman solve a crime against a madman claiming to be King Tut. This issue is the conclusion which was really good. Batman Confidential is just a good casual read without a lot of hidden plots and agendas which is really welcoming to me.

Superman: World of New Krypton #2

Kal-El is becoming more accustomed to his new old planet of New Krypton. Here is is learning much about his old culture with Zod now in control. Superman is no longer instead he is simply Kal-El now working in the military guild. But will his ideals and Zod's conflict each other too much?

Wolverine Weapon X #1

Awesome first issue. Any story dealing with Logan and Weapon X is always pretty good. Add in some great art and bloody scenes and you got yourself a good Wolverine comic in the making. The story is also good and looks to be promising. Will look forward to these issues from now on!

Star Trek Countdown #4

The last issue in the Star Trek Countdown series. These issues have been fore shadowing the story for the new upcoming movie to be released next month in May! If the movie is anything like the comics have been then it should be a pretty awesome movie! Spock has teamed up with Data and Picard in order to stop the nebula from wiping out the entire galaxy! While at the same time stopping Nero from killing every civilization in sight due to his own lost of Romulous!

Batman Battle for the Cowl: Commissioner Gordon

There are many one-shots and side stories being included with the Battle for the Cowl storyline. This installment in the series is in no way a disappointment. The story is very well written and gives the reader a behind the scenes look at Gordon's life in Gotham after the disappearance of Batman. It also shows his emotional abandonment at the thought of Batman being gone forever leaving the city in civil unrest. Featured in this story is Mr. Freeze who has captured Gordon without worries of Batman's interference. Little does Freeze expect Gordon to become his own guardian and protector and realize that it is now the job of G.C.P.D. and himself to save the city from corruption.

Oracle: The Cure 1 of 3

The first issue of three in a limited run pertaining to the Battle for the Cowl storyline. Barbara is back in Gotham and trying to hunt down information of the Anti-Life Equation. The Calculator, an evil villian striving to save the life of his daughter, is trying to find out more about the Anti-Life Equation for himself in order to save her. Barbara Gorden gets involved trough a gaming environment with the death of a friend(which is pretty awesome).

Superman #686

With Superman out of the picture for the Earth's protector, it us now up to Mon-El to save humanity. With the help from others, he is learning what it will take to save innocent people from the villains trying to destroy them. I am having high expectations for this character and story. Personally I really like Mon-El and think this could make a great addition to the whole Superman world!

War Machine #4

Every week I keep posting about how sick this series is and once again I'm going to say it. This series rules! I mean War Machine is just incredibly in these issues. As if that was not enough we have Ares still appearing in this issue, as well as infected zombie-like test subjects. There is no doubt that every week this comic is always the best read of the week! Seriously, do yourself a favor and read this series if you haven't already started.

Below are comics that I picked up from the comic release week of March 11, 2009.

Batman Battle for the Cowl #1/3

Finally it's here! The first issue out of three to be released of the "Batman: Battle for the Cowl" storyline. Nightwing and Robin have been forced to regain stability in Gotham City after many gang/criminal wars with help from various friends. If that didn't make things tough enough for the heroes, impersonations of Batman are starting pop up throughout the city. Who will decide to revive Batman and take on his persona to help Gotham City? Dick? Drake? or someone else? This issue was pretty good though I was really hoping to see a little more. Will be looking forward to next month's issue!

Batman Confidential #27

This run is really a great run and still reminds me a lot of the animated series. The Riddler, a villan not shown much in recent Batman stories, takes a good role in this issue. But has the Riddler actually taken on the role of the Dark Knight's side kick to stop a greater evil? Read this issue to learn more!

Invincible Iron Man #11

What could possibly be better than Tony Stark being hunted down by new peace organization H.A.M.M.E.R. and Pepper Potts having her own Iron suit? How about adding War Machine into the mix with a awesome battle between the two of them? Yeah thought that would make it better! Well that's exactly what you get in this action packed issue this month!

The Watchmen Movie Review

After much anticipation it's finally here. The movie I have been waiting for since after the release of the Dark Knight last summer. Sure there were a few good movies in between, but as far as a movie that is really a ground breaking achievement, there were none like this! So what made the movie such an accomplishment?

Well first it has always been called the comic that could never successfully be turned into a film. Many felt the scenes portrayed in the original story would either be too hard to portray, or would lose their dramatic or moving effect! Another reason would be for a lot of the controversial material in the story that some felt Hollywood would not want to portray superheroes in that way. However, it has been done, and with the movie in theaters now.

For those who have read the original comics, you know the story and either already love or hate it! For those who love comics, you also know that by Alan Moore writing this provocative story, he helped changed and mold the way heroes were portrayed in the entire comic genre. He did things other writers would not dare due in his time. It was very unlikely to see a character that was supposed to be a hero do any of the following; have open sexual relationships, use heavy profanity, a male super hero gun down at short range a pregnant woman, drink heavily, appear nude, and the list goes on. All this is shown in his writings and he was criticized by some for his controversial views and opinions inside the novel. But what he did do was make comics that attracted adults to their stories.

So what about the movie? What did it do that others have failed to do in the past? What really impressed me and made me want to return to see it again?

Well first I would like to start with the film's script itself. The quotes from the novel were right on, barely leaving out any key conversations. After reading the comics through a few times, I picked up on all the dialogue that I remembered reading in the text, which made it very enjoyable for me. Rorschach's journal entries were well adapted into the film, as well as Dr. Manhattan's thoughts while on Mars. The makers of this film did a superb job with this aspect of the film.

I was really blown away at the casting for this movie as well. I personally felt that all the characters looked as close as possible to the original drawings. The actors all acted very close to how I pictured them in my mind which hardly ever happens whether it's a comic, or paperback story. In the past there have been movies where I felt the casting for certain characters was very poor. For example George Clooney playing Batman, I mean come on! This was another thing the film did excellent on.

The story itself was followed extremely closely to the original. With the film being at almost three hours, they really filled in as much as possible without it feeling rushed or crammed in. There were a few parts left out of the theatrical release, such as scenes at the news stand that I really enjoyed during the read. However, I have heard that these scenes may be added for the DVD release and am excited for that! The only other thing the story partially wavered on, would be the ending. I am not going to spoil the ending though there are a few spoilers written in this review above. I felt the new ending was not as visually stunning as the original, but it was very close to the same with the same meaning behind it, so it still worked for me!

Probably the best thing about the watchmen was the scenery! Anyone who has read the story will know what I am talking about. The way the scenes are portrayed and put together just blew me away. It was as if the pages of the comics were coming to life on the screen. Almost every movement was on cue with the drawings themselves. Scenes such as the smiley face button lying on the street and panning up to the apartment, Dan sitting down after Rorschach leaves in front of his Nite Owl costume, and the list goes on. Never before has a movie caught the imaging so well!

The whole movie itself was gripping, captivating, and a true thought provoking experience! It shows the frailness of human life. That in a split second all we know could just vanish. However it also shows the drive of human nature to survive, and to press on even in a cataclysmic event! It questions the true meaning and experience of human life, asking us why we are here and touches on many subjects regarding a deity, as well as our place in the universe. The Watchmen also portrays heroes like no other film has in the past. We see heroes doing non-hero like behavior. Many times it makes us ask if these so called "heroes" are really heroes at all. That said the film touches on the true side of human nature. It shows that even the greatest of persons can fall. Even the smartest humanitarian can turn to corruption. That the most powerful of beings can turn their back and refuse to help those in need in their darkest hour. We get caught up in the stories of heroes so bound by justice, that we forget that they are humans and have flaws. Sometimes this can be the writers fault for putting them on such a high pedestal they are afraid to let them fall. Though if all heroes were like the ones seen in The Watchmen this movie may not bee such a extreme experience!

All this is what I love about this story. The scenery is fascinating. The characters are human beings with their own struggles and flaws that they cope with on top of the corruption of society. The amount of sensual attractiveness to the film and original writings is captivating to say the least. The ideas of a lost hope world that can be bound together by peace through an act of near Armageddon is sheer genius with the thought of "The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few."

If you haven't seen this movie, GO! I know I will be going again because I can't not go again while it is still on the big screen. Hopefully, you will feel all the greatness of this movie from the opening scene that intensifies it even more than the original drawings did! It is a movie of it's own not to be confused with other comic adaptations. After The Dark Knight I feared no movie would go where it did or have the same effect on me. This movie nearly ties with The Dark Knight on my list. And that's saying a lot coming from a huge Bat fan!

War Machine #3

So far this series just keeps getting better and better with each new issue! I am blown away at the brutal scenes of chaotic battles of War Machine. The story itself is also very fast paced and exciting! War Machine attaches himself to a tank! Not cool enough for you? How about being thrown into the air by a god, then destroying a jet and magnetically attaching the parts to your armor to go and dominate and save a friends wife in distress! It's seriously that good! If you haven't checked it out yet do it! You won't be bored or disappointed!

Star Trek Countdown #2

Whether you are a Star Trek fan, can't wait for the new film, or just love comics you should check this limited series out. It is a prequel to the upcoming film that will set the story and plot. Spock, Picard, Data, and more are featured in these issues to form a story together with new characters. A Nova explosion threatens the entire galaxy. Captain Nero and Ambassador Spock join together to visit the planet Vulcan in order to save the Romulan Empire. Will they be able to save Nero's wife in time before the Romulan planet is destroyed? Read this and the prior issue to find out!

This post is going to feature a review on three different things. First I am going to review the latest, and final issue of Robin. Then I am going to do a review on the Comedian Variant figure, as well as the Nite Owl (Modern) Figure.

Robin #183 Final Issue!

For the upcoming "Battle for the Cowl" story Robin and Nightwing both have been canceled, giving readers a final issue to sum up some loose ends. Robin in the previous issue had stopped the gang wars using his own methods since the disappearance of Batman. Spoiler was told to give up her identity, Anarky was silenced, and many changes are being made in the G.C. Major Crimes Unit. What is to become of Robin, Jason Todd, and Nightwing, as well as many others will have to wait until "Battle for the Cowl!"

Watchmen Series 1
Nite Owl (Modern)

I have had this figure for about two weeks now and just have not gotten around to writing a review on it. This is the Nite Owl figure from Series One of DC Directs figure line. The sculpt of the figure is nicely done. The painting and colors are very bright and applied very well to sculpture. It seems as though there is only one accessory with this figure, and that is the cresent shaped item on his belt, which I believe is used as a boomerang type of weapon. Though I could be wrong since I don't recall this item being featured in the comics. Then again it could be his communicator used for his ship. He comes with a stand should you wish to take him out of the packaging to display. Overall this is a nice figure, though I think the Rorschach figure from this line is even better!

Watchmen Series 2
The Comedian Exlusive Variant

Just purchased yesterday is the Watchmen Series two Comedian Variant Edition figure! I was lucky to walk into my local comic store and pick this up since it was the only, and last one they will be getting! The sculpt with this figure is very nicely made. The painting and detail is also as good as expected from DC Direct's figures. The Comedian comes with two pistols with his signature "Smiley" on them. Both his hands are made to hold both the guns. He also has two holsters, one on each hip, to store the guns in. There are a few differences betweent the variant and the regular version of this figure. The most obvious difference is that this figure comes unmasked. The other two smaller details are that he does not have a cigar in his mouth, and also there is no greying area in his hair on the sides as shown on the regular version. The box features on each side a picture of The Comedian as he appears in the normal version. He also comes with a base to stand on as well as all the others.

I picked this new issue of Thor up a bit late, but better late than never when it comes to the God of Thunder himself! Thor confronts unknowingly this long dead king in this monumental issue that truly shows how incredible Thor in his solo series really is! Batman #686

The latest issue of Batman is part one of a two part issue entitled "Whatever Happened to the Caped Crusader." This story is basically showing a lot of friends and enemies joining for a funeral of the Dark Knight himself in Crime Alley, while Bruce is talking to someone about what is going on in a kind of "Christmas Story/Scrooge" kind of feel. I was more into this issue of Batman than I have been in any issue of Batman since before the whole R.I.P. story. I feel that reading a story that does not leave you really confused or like "what the hell are you doing Morrison!" really relaxing and the way I enjoyed reading Batman all along.

Nightwing #153 LAST ISSUE!

I would like to start off stating that this was hard for me to even read at first! I just couldn't bring myself to want to read the "Final Issue" of Nightwing. Nightwing is one of my favorite characters following closely to Batman. The realization of not being able to go grab a new issue of Nightwing each month is actually depressing. However the issue was very good and did help tie in a lot of lose ends with a happy ending. It also helped set the pace for "Battle for the Cowl" to start in March!

Batman Confidential #26

This months issue of Batman Confidential started a new story line featuring the legendary King Tut. Also making an appearance in this issue and later issues will be the Riddler, a character that hasn't surfaced as much lately and is good to see him. The first issue seems promising and am looking forward to the following issues to come. I will also miss this run of comics when it is stopped for "Battle for the Cowl" as I was told it would be.

Hellboy: The Wild Hunt 3 of 8

The latest story following Hellboy has been just as good as all of Mignola's stories so far. Hellboy learns more once again about his past and the reason he is here: to destroy the world. He is confronted by rage that could cause him to eventually do what he is made to do.

Invincible Iron Man #10

In the latest issue Tony is being hunted down by Osborne to give himself in to HAMMER. Tony has parts of his mind erased in order to keep people from finding out more about the Iron Man suits he has built, and other weapon technologies that could be dangerous in the wrong hands. Pepper Potts is left to manage Stark Industries with a pretty awesome surprise left in store for her and the reader by the end of the story. I can't wait to keep reading this series. If you haven't looked into Invincible Iron Man now is the time, it's getting better each issue!

Hulk VS Movie Review

The latest Marvel animated movie release Hulk Vs. is incredible! This movie includes two short videos featuring the Hulk vs. Wolverine in one, and then against Thor in the other. Each video is between 35-45 minutes in length but does not disappoint! The fact that this is rated PG-13 helps add intense violent battles between these characters.

The video with Hulk versus Wolverine takes us back to the creation of Wolverine and Weapon X, which I thought was awesome. Featured in this video were other characters such as Dead Pool, Omega Red, Sabertooth, and Lady Death Strike, among a few others. The amount of smashing that is commonly known by the Hulk is all here in this great video!

The video with Hulk versus Thor was just as interesting and well done as the one with Wolverine. In this short film Bruce Banner is brought to Asgard by Loki to battle his brother Thor during the Odin time of sleep. I thought bringing Hulk to the world of Asgard was a splendid idea instead of sending Thor to earth. It really was more about Thor and his people which is not seen enough in a lot of stories featuring Thor in my opinion.

Overall rating 10/10!

If you haven't seen this yet you have to check it out! It should not disappoint any fan of Hulk, Wolverine, or Thor!

Watchmen Rorschach Figure

Watchmen Movie Settlement Reached

However according to this news post on rottentomatoes.com the movie is to go ahead with the intended release date of March 6, 2009! This is great news to me since I am way stoked to see this movie!

This latest issue of Nightwing was one of the best comics that I have read in a long time. Nightwing is confronted by Ras Al Ghul about the disappearance of Batman. Dick is truly becoming quite the superhero in mirroring Bruce's tactics, as well as showing some of his own.

Batman Confidential #25

The latest issue of Batman Confidential concludes the Joker story line in part four of "Do You Understand these Rights?" This issue is very well written and drawn and is really what I loved about Batman stories prior to all the confusion and crossovering that has been going on since R.I.P. It's just a simple tale of the Dark Knight against his greatest foe The Joker. I loved how the ending of this comic had various endings leading up to a new story arc to be released next month. With every issue of Batman Confidential that I read, the more I love it!

War Machine 1st Issue!!

I will add a bit of information about this issue because I am so stoked that they are going to be doing a War Machine series now. Iron Man is awesome, but I have always been a fan of War Machine even more and hope he appears in the next film! This issue was awesome and kept me wanting more!

Hot Toys Joker Bust Video Review

First I would like to start off by apologizing for no new posts on my blog for over a week. I went on a cruise on board the beautiful Carnival Freedom ship. I got to see San Juan, St. Thomas, Antigua, Tortola, and Nassau. All the places were remarkable and now that I am back home I will continue to do more updates including this review and also reviews on comics. Thanks!

The Flash #247

The latest issue of the Flash clenches the story of whether Linda, Wally's wife, lives or dies. This story is also important to see what will become of Wally. Will he regain his powers or will they be lost leaving him to become just a normal man? I felt the story ended slightly abruptly, though I am glad this story helps somewhat tie into the Rebirth of Barry, which I have great anticipation for!

Batman Last Rites #683

This issue is the last issue in the two part Last Rites series entitled "What the Butler Saw". Batman uses his own memories as a weapon, which I found to be the best thing Morrison has done since before RIP. Personally I am not a huge fan of RIP, though I have liked the Last Rites story that follows RIP. I am, like others, a little bummed that this story will crossover into the Final Crisis story instead of staying with the Batman title. I was very against this whole story that Morrison was dishing out at first but now I don't mind as much as before. I feel it is good to be experimental and go out on a limb every now and then to keep things interesting and not boring. I am not saying that I am a huge Morrison fan, however I do applaud his attempt at a new and inventive story arc.

Eddie Murphy as Riddler in Next Batman?

Someone has lost their mind if this rumor is even in the most remote part true!
There is no way on earth Eddie Murphy would make a good casting in ANY Batman movie for ANY character! Articles are listed below that state that he has been signed on for the character and also articles that say this rumor is false and just that, a Rumor! I sincerely hope that this is a false joke. Did DC Comics, or anyone involved in Superman III not learn their lesson after Richard Pryor made an appearance in those movies! This would be laughed out of the theater and ruin Nolan's name in the Batman movie adaptation industry. How can you make two great movies starring a great cast and great story and do something this blatantly ridiculous! Take the picture below and you can see the abomination that this would do to the character! And haven't we strayed away from the cartoon Batman silliness by now?

Also it is said that Shia LeBeouf would play Robin and many other rumors about other characters are stated in these articles above. I think this is all just a hoax! For one thing Nolan said he never wanted to bring in the Boy Wonder into any of his films. I know a director can change his mind but he seemed very certain in his interviews that he wanted to portray the individual Batman solo.

Lets also compare the movies that Eddie Murphy has started in and the roles he played in these films. First lets take The Klump movies and Norton. We are talking about a guy who does movies regarding crude humor of farting and obesity and making him some criminal mastermind obsessed with riddles and clues. This makes no sense! I am not trying to bash Murphy's career as a actor, however lets face it, Murphy does well in the crude/vulgar movie industry and that's where it should end! Nolan's films portraying Batman are too dark and dramatic for a individual like Murphy to appear in! I can't imagine anyone who is a Bat fan, Nolan fan, or fan of the Dark Knight ever going to see this movie with any anticipation of it being good. There is just no way possible!!

Wolverine Origins Movie May 1, 2009

I went and saw The Day The Earth Stood Still today(check my review on rottentomatoes.com for my thoughts on it) and saw a few really good trailers before the movie. One that got me really excited was a trailer I saw for the new Wolverine movie to be released this summer! It seems that Gambit is finally making an appearance on the big screen which is amazing news to me! The trailer looked very good and I think it will surpass all three of the original X-men movies released! Here is the only trailer I can find for it that was taken by someone at a Comic-Con. Batman Confidential #24

The latest issue of Batman Confidential is part three in the "Do You Understand These Rights?" story line. This issue deals with the trial of the Joker in court and the decision on whether to send him to a mental institute or whether to put him in jail. The Joker manages to hurt/kill someone even in the courtroom. Batman pays a surprise, undercover visit to the Joker in jail. This series is getting better the more I read it. It reminds me a lot of the Animated Batman television show that I loved as a kid and even now!

Nightwing #151

In the latest issue of Nightwing following up after the R.I.P. crossover, the story begins summing up. Nightwing goes to visit Two-Face in Arkham to sort out details involving their struggle together in the previous issues where Nightwing saved New York City. Nightwing learns that this is probably just the beginning of a war between him and Two-Face. The story ends with a lonely state at Wayne Manor with Bruce not there. This story was just an epilogue without any real action, but it helped tie in the end of the story and what is to become of Nightwing in the future!

Hellboy The Wild Hunt #1 of 8

A new series has just begun with Hellboy by Mike Mignola. The story the wild hunt looks promising, as all Hellboy comics I've had the pleasure to read have been. Hellboy has been in hiding for some time at the beginning of the story when he is contacted to join a group that hunt giants. When giants form a gang of two or more this group drafts strong and noble men together to stop the giants path of destruction. They call the hunt, "The Wild Hunt". This hunt has been going on for hundreds of years including many prominent men over time. Will the men accept Hellboy for this hunt or could he have been led to trechary!

Batman Detective Comics #851

The latest issue of Batman Detective Comics follows the Last Rites storyline. In this issue Nightwing is called to battle against Two-Face once again. Since the Dark Knight is missing Dick feels that it is his responsibility to take charge over Gotham as Nightwing in order to protect the city from the evil that is sure to grow after Batman's disappearance. An ending that leaves the reader wanting the next issue to see what will become of Nightwing!

From what I have just read the Dark Knight will be re-released in theaters in January due to the popularity of the movie, as well as the directors and makers of the film wanting fans of the movie to see it on the big screen one more time the way it was meant to be seen. I actually went back and started with the first issue of the Batman RIP series and read all the way through so that way I would be refreshed with the story in my mind to help it make sense. It seems Batman has taken the final blow as Bruce Wayne? Though to me the ending is a bit unsettling, and possibly more of a confusion than a quencher of a ending, it has all been unveiled! According to the story Thomas Wayne, Bruce's father, never died but instead lived to become Dr. Hurt according to Dr. Hurt. Jezebel, the love of Batman, has been uncovered as a member of the Black Glove and has been plotting against Batman all along, though Batman has suspected this. The Joker plays a large part in this story and actually turns against the Black Glover to show that he is truly in power and works for no one other than his deranged self. The phrase used "Zur-En-Arrh" has finally been translated to "Zorro in Arkham", which were the words spoken that were misunderstood before the death of Thomas and Martha Wayne on the fateful night. It has been six months now and Batman has not been seen since his final fight with Dr. Hurt. There is so much story to write about in all the details and features of this series that I can not begin to write about. I am not going to rate this comic or the series in this review because I honestly have mixed emotions about the story in this issue and in the series as a whole! It has been entertaining and suspensful! However I will like to see where the story goes from here in order for me to have a true opinion on how I feel about it! Feel free to read the storyline yourself for your own reaction.

Dark Knight Sequel

Could the next Batman movie feature the Riddler? And could the casting for this movie really be Johnny Depp to play his part? Many rumors are stirring as to who will be in the next film and if truly the Riddler or Johnny Depp will be involved. For those who have seen the Dark Knight, we know the Ledger's performance as the legendary Joker was none other than phenomenal to say the least! Not just because of his death, but because he truly did a great role in this movie let's be honest! But can Depp(well known for his role as Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of the Caribbean) top the performance of a blockbuster hit making over $995,000,000 gross worldwide? It should be interesting and though noting is confirmed my interest will be looking into the future of this possible film!

Joker by Brian Azzarello and Lee Bermejo

I just read one of the best comic stories featuring the Joker of all time! This story was written by Brian Azzarello with art by Lee Bermejo. I must say the scenes were absolutely astonishing! I have never read a story with such great transitions as well as a wonderful view on the Joker. This in my opinion is Batman: The Killing Joke of current times! I am posting some photos of the art work featured in this novel to show you the flawless brilliance of Bermejo's artistic talent. Not to leave out the extraordinary writing by Azzarello. If you have not gotten a chance to pick this up, or were debating on whether it is worth the read, Get It!! You will not be disappointed.

Batman Detective Comics #850

In this latest double sized issue of Batman Detective Comics, the story is the conclusion to Batman R.I.P. Heart of Hush entitled "The Demon in the Mirror". The truth is revealed about Tommy Elliot and his family problems with his mother among other loved ones. Bruce Wayne and Batman are both forced to fight the final battle against Hush. Catwoman's fate is also revealed in this issue. Personally this is the best chapter in this series of Heart of Hush with a great story and ending!

Batman Confidential #23

In the latest issue of Batman Confidential the Joker is on trial for murder. This is part two in the "Do You Understand These Rights?" story. The comic opens up with a funeral of a murder committed by the Joker. The story builds and shows more of the insane antics of the Joker and his ruthlessness! So far a good and solid story featuring the Joker!

Wolverine:Old Man Logan #69

In the latest issue of Wolverine the story continues with the story of Logan in the future as an old man living in the world taken over by villans. He joins Hawkeye in a quest to make enough money to help his family back home to pay rent and bills to the descendents of Bruce Banner. Wolverine's dark side begins to show in this comic with more to be reveled in the next issue to come!

Superman and Batman Vs. Vampires and Werewolves Issue #3

The story of Superman and Batman fighting the undead is getting better with each issue. The story is telling us more of how these undead creatures have entered the world of the Dark Knight and the plans are being made on how to rid Gotham of them. More characters are becoming involved into the story and we learn more about Dimeter in this issue. I have great anticipation for the next three issues in this six part limited run.

B.P.R.D. The Warning Issue #5

I have not reviewed issues 1-4 of this series, but I will review this issue and the whole story altogether in this review. Another work of art and genius by Mignola on this storyline as one can expect. All the characters are here: Abe, Liz, Johann, and Kate Corrigan. The infamous frogs have a part in this storyline as well as new creatures. Johann Kraus' backstory is brought into view throughout this series really bringing him forward as a main character instead of just a background character including his old previous home now destroyed. This series is strongly suggested to those who enjoy Hellboy or Mignola's style writing.

Batman Cacophony Issue #1 of 3

A new limited run storyline featuring Batman and the legendary Joker! Not to mention other characters such as Dead Shot. The first issue of this storyline was truly amazing to say the least. The Jokers character in this story is fantastic. Highly suggested for a read!

Nightwing #150

This weeks issue of Nightwing #150 is the conclusion of the battle with two face that Nightwing has been fighting for some issues now. The relationship between Nightwing and Two face is tense and this double issue really brings a lot into perspective about the hatred these two characters have for one another with a great ending!

Marvel Zombies 3 Issue 2 of4

This issue caught my attention much more than the first issue. I feel the storyline really picked up and should continue to be a good story. One thing I would like to point out as a strong like about the new Marvel Zombies is the new covers. This weeks cover imitates the cover of 28 Days Later as well as the girl from The Exorcist if I am correct. This issue has some pretty awesome zombie scenes as well as a good "to be continued.." ending.

Venom Dark Origin 4 of 5

This issue in the series of the Venom Dark Origin limited series was very exciting. Eddie Brock has accepted the symbiote to take control over him in order to make himself more powerful to take revenge on all who have ruined his life, including Peter Parker/Spiderman. The artwork in this series has been fantastic to say the least! The detail put into Venom's costume and overall appearance is what really makes the comic series epic and memorable!

The Invincible Iron Man #7

This issue of Iron Man featured a guest appearance by Spiderman. The story picks up where the last issue #6 left off with the defeat of Ezekiel. Peter Parker is assigned to take pictures and interview Stark about the events that took place at Stark Tower. While there, Spiderman helps Iron Man with a mission together. This story was O.K. but not that great for a crossover in my opinion. Nothing really fascinating stuck out about this issue to be that overwhelming. In some ways it was a little drull actually.

It has been awhile since my last post and I wanted to review some comics that I have read recently!

First I would like to comment that I followed the latest story in the Amazing Spiderman series titled New Ways to Die!

This story caught my attention with it having venom in it. The story is pretty awesome with introducing a new character, Anti-Venom. Anti-Venom is Eddie Brock who used to be Venom. Eddie has been diagnosed with cancer that is believed to have come from the symbiote that caused him to become Venom. Anti-Venom tries to destroy the current Venom by sucking out the symbiote. Unfortunately, Anti-Venom also diminishes Spiderman's powers whenever he is too close to him. In the story we also see the return of Norman Osborn as the Green Goblin and learn more about Harry's secret. The Thunderbolts also make appearances in this story line. I loved the story and will say it has really gotten me into the Amazing Spiderman comics now in wanting to start possibly collecting them. This storyline runs from The Amazing Spiderman issue number 568-573.
One other cool thing is the end of the story in issue 573 with a small ending with Stephen Colbert. Very cool!

Batman Detective Comics #849

This issue is part of the Batman R.I.P. storyline, and I must admit it is getting pretty intense coming to the close. This issue involves an opening with Scarecrow in Joker's cell with Batman interrogating Scarecrow. Hush is still in this storyline and has removed Selina Kyle's heart. Hush is working in his own hospital where Batman sneaks in and is gassed to learn that Tommy Elloit has made himself to look like Bruce Wayne and plans to hide Batman as assume his idenity. The story also shows the struggle between Hush and Joker which is another part of the story I really enjoyed.

Invincible Iron Man #6

This issue ends the storyline that began in Invincible Iron Man #1. At the end of issue 5 we believe that Ezekiel has defeated Iron Man in battle. We learn however that the suit he destroyed was a decoy and Tony Stark was not inside. Stark and Ezekiel have a battle and exchange of words throughout the rest of the comic with an awesome hand to hand combat outside of the suits with an awesome defeat! This also stops the terrorist attacks with people doing suicide bombings with unibeam projectors. Pretty good story line, and great ending!

Batman and the Outsiders #12

This issue follows the Batman R.I.P. storyline. In this issue we see the death of an Outsider and the dismantling of the Outsiders as a group. I wasn't extremely big on this issue as far as other R.I.P. issues have been better in the past. At the end of the comic someone may be taking over the Outsiders?

The Flash #245

This issue is part 2 in the This Was Your Life, Wally West story line. The Flash is suffering in this comic from a slowing down of his body. He is no longer able to run as fast as he used to. Part of the issue is a flash back to when Wally West was Kid Flash. Raven also makes an appearance in this issue to help the Flash. Flash's wife, Linda, is attacked by a large swarm of bees and with the aid of Black Lightning saves her.

Robin #179

This issue was part 3 in the Search for a Hero storyline. Robin is still alone without the assistance of Batman in trying to stop the crime in Gotham City. The Spoiler is still in the storyline as well as a group called The Golden Dragons. Personally I was not big on these characters or this story. However Robin takes out the Batmobile which makes the story interesting after all the rumors of Batman's death and disappearance. Spoiler saves Robin's life and ends with an appearance by Red Robin. Hopefully next issue will be better. To me this issue was just a leading issue between the previous issue and the next issue #180

Iron Man Director of SHIELD/War Machine Weapon of SHIELD #34

War Machine!! Need I say more? Rhodney Rhodes/War Machine is personally one of the best things about Iron Man. His character is sick! And so is this issue. This issue and last issue have been two of the best Iron Man comics I have read! The story is a crossover with the whole Secret Invasion going on in the Marvel Comics. War Machine figting the Skrulls in this issue is full of action and destruction with great art in battle scenes. Highly recommend this comic series right now as it is a great read and full of astounding art!

I am also currently reading the Secret Invasion limited comic series and will do a review on those after reading all 8 issues! So far it has been good and am awaiting to read the end with the battle between Marvel heroes and the Skrulls!

Secret Files Series 3 The Joker Figure

Today I not only picked up comics, but I also picked up the Secret Files Series 3 Batman Rogues Gallery 2 Joker Figure

This figure is a portrayal of the Joker from one of my personal favorite Batman stories written by Alan Moore entitled Batman The Killing Joke. The figures detail and color is done very well and does the Joker justice. He comes with a revolver, shot glass, and camera as accessories. This figure is about 7 1/2" tall. Other figures in this series include: Hugo Strange, Two-Face, and Poison Ivy. I really like this Joker a lot being that it comes from such a momentum story and am really glad they decided to make a figure adaptation of it!

New Comic Pickups Week of 10/08/2008

This week I picked up the following comics and will review them as I read them.

First I read George A. Romero's Night of the Living Dead The Beginning Issue 1

This issue really shapes the opening of Night of the Living Dead movie. The story takes place in Pennsylvania starting with a bus crash and a grave digger and his partner in the cemetery. New characters are introduced such as Christine who lives with her grandmother and works in a diner. We see a few zombie scenes which open up interest and hope for more graphic scenes to come.

Next I read the new series Marvel Zombies 3 Issue 1!

I picked up both the variant cover(shown first) and the regular direct edition(second) of this issue. This issue picks up where Marvel Zombies 2 left off. I'm not sure if the story to me is as good as the original Marvel Zombies and Marvel Zombies 2, but the art is just as good. It seems this story is somewhat about a parallel universe that exists without the infection and somehow the infection finds it's way into this universe. It sounds a lot to me like a lot of what is going on in DC and Marvel with multiverses and future/past criss crosses. But hopefully the art can help the story. I will add that the photo on page 10(not including the cover in counting) is pretty sick!

Batman and the Outsiders Issue 11

Before picking up this issue today I had not currently read any comics about the outsiders. The main interest in this comic was due to the R.I.P. crossover in dealing with Batman's disappearance. I thought it went along with the R.I.P. storyline really well however. Members of the Outsiders as well as Jim Gordon feel hopeless without Batman's presence in Gotham. Gordon feels the worse for Gotham City without Batman as it's guardian against crime. The members of the Outsiders feel lost without their leader, and wonder what is to become of them without him. A surprise message at the end of the comic leaves the reader anticipating the next crossover R.I.P. issue 12!

Batman Confidential #22

So far this has been my favorite issue that I have read this week. Joker appears in this issue and is brought into jail by Batman. While there he manages to kill all the inmates in his cell as well as a detectives wife on the outside by convincing her to hang herself. This story was very good and was every bit the dark, sadistic Joker that I love to see in comics. Also best Batman Confidential story that I have read so far.

Robin DC Direct 13" 1:6 Scale Deluxe Collector Figure

I just received this item in the mail today and thought I would give a review on it. I already have a few of the DC Direct 1:6 scale figures and decided to add this into my collection thus far. This figure is the Robin Classic figure offered in the Deluxe Collector Figure line. Robin is fully poseable with 28 points of articulation. He is the first scaled "teen" figure in this line to be released. The Classic Robin is clothed in his authentic red, green, and yellow outfit as seen in the classic Batman comics. The first Robin was young Dick Grayson, who was a acrobat along with his parents in the circus. His abilities were vast at a young age and quickly caught Batman's attention. Unfortunately young Dick Grayson experienced a tragedy when his parents were murdered by a maniac killer, thus becoming Bruce Wayne's ward and finally teaming with Batman in becoming the Caped Crusader's partner, Robin. Sharing the pain of a lost family Bruce and Dick related in their struggle to overcome the hardship of being orphans and the desire to rid the world of the evil that took their families from them.

Here is a facial view of Robin without his mask on. As you can see in the picture the facial detail. He also comes with two other sets of hands that enable him to hold objects and for posing purposes. Robin also comes with two masks that fit onto his face. One is Dark Green and one is Black as pictured to the top left.

This is a full body view of the figure in the packaging. Here you can see the detail in his costume including his gloves, cape, and belt. In the lower right corner is the batarang grappling hook.

I took this photo to show the detail in his legs and knees. Most figures just have a single hinge bend in the knee. This figure has a bend at the top and bottom of the knee to make it easily poseable. This greatly enhances the articulation in this figure!

I took a close up photo of both the Robin Classic figure and the Nightwing 1:6 Scale figure of the same collector figure series. As Dick rayson became older he felt that he was being held back by Batman and decided to become his own hero as Nightwing. I wanted to see if there was a good similarity to these two figures facially. I was very pleased to see that both Nightwing and Robin

have similar facial features, with Nightwing appearing older as it should be. This is one detail between these two figures that I am very pleased with!

Overall I am very pleased with this purchase. In comparison to the other DC Direct 1:6 Scale Figures I feel this one ranks as high as the others in detail and in overall quality. I would like to see DC Direct make a current Robin figure of Tim Drake. I feel they would do the character justice as they have of this Dick Grayson Robin version.

Since this is my first rating for a figure or item I will describe the rating system. I will rate items from 1-5 punches. 1 being lowest and 5 being highest!

Hellboy II: The Golden Army

I just watched this last night and must say I was impressed. I loved the original 2004 release by Del Toro and thought it was incredible. However this movie surpassed the original with a wide array of visual affects and the dark humor best associated with Mike Mignola(writer/artist and creator of Hellboy comics). I was going to have to wait until this movie came out on DVD because unfortunately, I missed it in the theaters. Luckily, I found a good download of this movie, with the exception of bad audio, and was able to watch it. This movie branched out from the original release and built a solid story line between the characters, and added other new characters. Hellboy's fight against the opposing Prince Nuada for the right to control the golden army was a good story line invisioned by both writer Mignola and visionary producer Del Toro. We also see a new tie between Hellboy and Liz Sherman and their struggles to be accepted by the world they save, and are best regarded as "Freaks." Past the visual effects and uncanny humor, the viewer can take away many other aspects of this movie. If you have not taken the priviledge to read any of the hellboy stories or comics I would highly recommend them. Mike Mignola is a highly respected author and can mix the worlds of zomibes and monsters with the classic story of a childhood superhero.
